Le semeur Fiachra (Saint Fiacre).

Fiachra était l’enfant d'une famille noble d’Irlande. Il fut éduqué dans un monastère et y révéla un tel talent pour les soins par les herbes qu'il y acquit une grande renommée.
Ordonné prêtre, Saint Fiacre vécu dans un ermitage en menant une vie très austère, mais ses multiples guérisons par la vertu des plantes attiraient malades et disciples.
Son frère étant appelé à monter sur le trône, il fut décidé que rien ne s'opposait à ce qu'il quitte l’Irlande pour faire du prosélytisme.
Il traversa la mer et se se rendit à Meaux, dans le royaume carolingien. (France actuelle).
Il y fonda un monastère, où il cultiva ses plantes médicinales et guérit les malades avec autant de succès que dans son ile natale.

Saint Fiacre est vénéré comme saint patron des jardiniers.

Fiachra was the child of a noble family in Ireland. He was educated in a monastery and showed such a talent for herb care that he gained a great reputation there.
Ordained a priest, Saint Fiacre lived in a hermitage leading a very austere life, but his many healings by virtue of the plants attracted sick and disciples.
As his brother was called to the throne, it was decided that there was nothing to stop him from leaving Ireland to proselytize.
He crossed the sea and went to Meaux, in the Carolingian kingdom. (present-day France).
There he founded a monastery, where he cultivated his medicinal plants and healed the sick as successfully as on his native island.

Saint Fiacre is venerated as Patron Saint of the gardeners.
