Saint Bodmaël was born in Brittany in the 5th or 6th century. The name comes from the Gaulish word Bodd, meaning «goodwill» and from the Celtic «maël» which means prince.
Originally from Wales or Ireland, he is said to have established an oratory on Maudez Island where the circular foundations of the cells and traces of the chapel were found.
I suppose the torch is the symbol of faith.
