REPEATING PATTERNS such as line, color, shape, texture or value in an image tend to unify the total effect of a photograph as well as create rhythm. Some photographers use a pattern as the main subject of an image while others use it to enhance the overall composition and look of the photograph. Repetition of elements can take the form of an exact duplication (pattern), a near duplication, or duplication with variety or a break in the pattern.
