A monochrome photograph, narrowly defined, is a picture that consists |
of a single hue. Typically a black and white image comes to mind, but digital cameras and photo editing software have changed this perception. Today, the photography term can be used to describe photographs that use various shades, tints, tones and hues derived from a single base colour. Using a monochromatic colour scheme is a good way to evoke a certain feeling in your image and within the viewer. Some photographers bend the rules a bit and will use an additional color with the primary shade to further emphasize contrast in their images and evoke deeper interest.
