I have an 11x14 matted and framed and hanging on my LR wall, and I have the original 15mb file as my work computer's wallpaper. In both locations, it looks very much like a drawing. The fact that this effect can come straight out of a camera is what I find most interesting.

It's a very striking image, Charlie, and the colors are wonderful! However, now it looks more like a drawing than a photo, which gets us back to the ongoing question of personal preferences.

You type too fast, Rod, and you beat me to the post by one full minute. How can I type a reply as quickly as you, when I am trying to type from my knees? :)

Thanks for the comments. In particular, thank you Rod for the suggestions, which I have implemented. The revised image is an improvement, I do agree.

No Tommy just resize to 600 on the long side, I think I also used Bicubc sharper in the resize rather than just bicubic. I think Charlie just made the long side too small. It looks like he's resized it up now even though he didn't get down on his knees & thank me:-)

Outstanding result for straight out-of-camera. I think Rod's result is quite effective. Rod, did you do any other processing besides resizing as you describe? -tv

I agree wiv Carole but I think you may have overreacted & made the dimensions too small Charlie. I resized the original down to 600 on the long side wiv a Jpeg compression of 4 & it sort of looks OK. The size when uploaded is 140K.

Wow Charlie - the original size is terrific! The compression really doesn't do this justice. :-( CJ

No filters. Other than a slight touch of USM, along with a slight contrast adjustment, this is nearly "camera original." I do regret that the Challenge's file size limit resulted in a loss of detail. A cleaner version can be seen here: http://www.pbase.com/cbeck/image/96344534/original

Very dramatic Charlie! Did you use some kind of filter on this - it almost looks like an illustration? CJ
