This is a beautiful portrait. I haven't had time to comment on too many, but wanted to get this in. The color is perfect. I think if you just added a little bit of connection to the camera, it would have added much - but that is my only nit pic. I really like the look of natural shots... focusing on the eyes which are the view to the soul. This is a very innocent shot... and I like the far away look. Well done. jano

Such a terrific portrait. The intensity was so lost in the uncropped version. -tv

I really like this crop better Angio - the candle was distracting and drew the eye away from this pretty face. There's enough yellow in the flower and hair for me! :-) CJ

Barely squeezed that splash of yellow in there. The f1.6 created a nice shallow DOF. -COAmature

Gawd you're making hard work of this Angio:-)

I am still not sure which I prefer for this cat. The candle was to add yellow but was a bit distracting first go around. I like this crop but for the lack of yellow. I may try a tweak of the candle and put in pending. - angioman

Hm, perhaps it's all in my imagination. Yes, there never was a candle... :-) Joking aside: My only objection was that the intensity of the candle was too dominant and might be toned down a bit, not the fact that the candle was there at all. The composition was really perfect with the candle. I did not want to consider a complete re-crop. The image is still great but I have the feeling that something is missing now. -Gerald

What candle? :) - angioman

Gorgeous portrait, Angio, but I am not sure about the candle, too. My eyes are always drawn to it when I look at this image, I cannot do anything against it. Perhaps you could try to tone it down a bit. Apart from this, a really fabulous image. -Gerald

I think the bg is distracting. The candle is yellow but has no other purpose and there's no connection with the otherwise powerful portrait. We don't want to be distracted from her blue eyes. -tv

that's all u get for this challenge, Rod, sorry mate:) - angioman

Yes I like this much more Angio. Seeing as though I've got you, unlike me missus doing everything I say:-) how about just toning down the bright centre in the candle so our eyes are more fixed on the model. I know I know, give me an inch:-)

This is a bit tighter crop, with less background. - angioman
ctfchallenge26-Apr-2008 22:24
Thanks Rod. I might try a tighter crop, though I did tighten up the DOF to focus on the eyes and flower. Oh well... - angioman

Really nice picy Angio wiv the natural light on the left looking really good combined with the warm candle glow on the right. For this topic though I would luv to see a portrait of this innocent looking thing without the distracting background so we could pick up on the blue shirt & the subtlety of the lone yellow flower. Wot a fantastic model.
