Sorry I'm late to comment.
Very good portrait. Perhaps some burning of the midtones under the left eye area would've helped to even up the lighting a bit.

This does have a bit of meditative or even melancholic feeling to it. Great capture

Thanks all. Yes there is a wonderful gorilla habitat at Zoo Atlanta.

I am not sure how sad he was. Minutes earlier he was playing with kids at the glass viewing area where this shot was taken. It was raining, so there were several gorillas seeking shelter under the overhang.

Good shot Lee and I like the shallow DOF. He looks like he's thinking about something, maybe a mate! I hope it's a nice zoo as I know they are becoming endangered because of loss of habitat and their survival may depend on captive breeding programs so I do hope he/she has a mate. CJ

Yes, this poor guy does look quite depressed. Even if it is sad, it is well shot.

Nice shot, Lee...he does look very sad. Maybe he needs a girlfriend.

Rod,
I really do not understand your comment.

I really don't like looking at animals imprisoned in zoos, its too sad, especially in May:-)
