Giclees now are often just a term for expensive inkjet prints. Giclees used to be a long process and almost works of arts in themselves. Originally a way to produce short run prints identical to the original paintings by using large format printers (predating the onslaught of every manufacturer under the sun selling large format inkjets) as the colour fidelity and gamut is much larger than conventional printing techniques allow. Every step of the way from photographing/scanning the originals using extremely high end equipment is under tightly controlled, calibrated, profiled conditions. The giclee maker would often sign the prints themselves as having produced them - a testament to the care and attention lavished upon them.

Now the world and his wife wants to sell you a giclee print. I expect manufacturers will be selling home desktop printers with *giclee* modes on them by Christmas.

Lonnit, I like the smaller one best. Have you tried selective watercolor at the edge for the sidewalk. So that the kids seemed to be walking into a painting. Just a thought. theFly

Lonnit, Your love of children comes through in your work. I too am in the dark about giclee's and dioplers and such, but I know when I see a photo that is appealing. I like the smaller version although the water color effect is sorta cool. I tend to like things ah natural as much as possible and the photo shot as it was on a (lucky you!) bright sunny day is great. Yvonne

Wot's a Giclee? I think the only water colour that should be hung on a wall is a bleeding water colour not a PS filtered picy:-)
I actually like the smaller version where I can't see the silly water colour effect, sort of like two kids heading out into the bright world of play. Full marks on the small version & yuck to the bigger one:-)

The challenge aside, this is FANTASTIC work Lonnit. Make a Giclee out of it on water-color paper...20x30" I am sure this is a right image for that.

My goodness man, calm down! LOL! ;) I was doing that while you were requesting it! LOL! Here it is - it's just a portion of it, and it's still been downsized 50% and then saved at less-than-optimal quality, but it gives a general idea:~ Lonnit

Hmmm OK. Neat Idea!! I would be interested in zooming in. But this size is kind of small. If you have a bigger version on your site, please post a link to that. -Cat

Yeesh, man, you got your comment in before I could even submitting it! LOL! It is supposed to be oversaturated as it has been turned into a colored pencil sketch, which is hard to tell at this size. The grass and players were overexposed and started looking a bit like a drawing, so I pushed it all the way with the effect. I'll have to see how big a version I can make and still be under the limit so viewers can zoom in a bit. ~ Lonnit
