Great work. resting head in hands is a cool trick. The dodge/burn has really enhanced the floor texture. Overall, its a winner. -Cat

Great lightning and what everybody else had said. Great PS work on the floor. Thanks for sharing the other shots. Even if the others were sharp, this pose is the best one. I like it a lot.

ISO i've looked at this shot many times since you posted it but didn't want to just say i thought it was excellent but i'm buggered if i can say anything more than it's excellent and is classic you from just the thumbnail. I had a look at the shots in pending, great one of the two of them at the end.

Thanks for the explaination. I also like your light blue wall's texture :o)

I added a few outtakes to pending as well. Unprocessed though.

Noog - shot RAW with the 20D underexposed by half a stop to give 1/10 at F4.5 @ iso400 on a Sigma 15-30 zoom around 22mm. Natural light only diffused through net curtains to the right of camera. It's around 6 o clock overcast and the light is failing here as the sun sets on the other side of my house. At 1/10 you need a pose that will stop these little critters moving, hence resting head in hands (believe me there were quite a few shots that weren't sharp enough). His younger brother (2 years old) was nigh on impossible to keep still so he didn't get used. I'm using a tripod though. The room is about 11x11 feet hence the WA lens. It's a bit soft at F4.5 but still makes a nice print. His shirt was chosen by me for this as I knew it would work well with the wallpaper and chair - glad you like it :). Original untweaked image I'll post in pending with some more text.

Hi Iso,

This a beautiful image. Would you please share your exif data? As Markjay says, there's something endearing and nostlagic about this image. How did you do it/process it? The light have a soft quality that is very interesting to me. About the nostalgic-ness, the hair cut and classic pattern of your son's clothes give the image a 50's/60's feeling. Very cool, a winner.

yes, I immediately knew it was an ISO3200. good stuff as always, this will compete for the top spot - IMO.

Mark. The floorboards have been covered for about 8 years with underlay and carpet. This is how the floor is underneath. The darker side comes from some old lino that was in there from a long time ago which has stained the wood bizarrely just on that side. I've heightened the detail in the grain with some dodging and burning as I love the textures in it.

definitely your style and your son's posture/expression is just priceless. made me smile. -Abstract

To say excellent is an understatement. Simplicity at it's best!

There's something innocent and and endearing about this image that I like, ISO. I like it alot. Are the floorboards on the left half of the image naturally washed out like that or, did the sunlight contribute to that? Not that it is a bad thing in any way, just curious (for the sake of learning). Markjay

Great color and light as usual in your pictures. A big blue detailess wall and the posture of the boy emphasize waiting very well. It is also great that he is barefooted on a rough wooden floor

Fair enough:-)

Predictability? - I thought the whole idea of this challenge is to shoot in your usual style. To do what you are most recognised for? It is, by definition, going to be kind of predicatble isn't it? BTW this isn't a studio shot. It's an a newly decorated room in my house. There is no flash used at all on this. It is natural light only from one window. As I work in design a lot of my images have a space for copy on them :) Glad you like it though.

I can't find anything not to like about this shot, & as others have glowingly said a classic Isopic. But I'm starting to sense a predictability with the studio shots, 2/3 one colour 1/3 another colour & a subject on the right or left 1/3. So for me they're losing feel & impact. Always a nice graphic though.
