Fantastic image. Light, reflections, composition - it's all there. Great colour. Nugar - the 50mm is an essential lens IMO. Especially for portrait work. I have the F1.4 version. It is just so sharp and great for low light and creative DOF effects. Mine is on the camera most of the time in preference to a zoom. No need for flash - it's just an excellent purchase.

Oh, and great image, btw!
Nugar19-Jun-2005 17:37
I want this lens to shoot people. Maybe even the 1.4
ctfchallenge19-Jun-2005 12:22
Rod, Just great. The lens is very cheap. You can get some great DOF or have things razor sharp. If you do not have this lens in your stable, I would strongly recommend it. theFly

I was reading in the 350 forum about the bad focusing of this lens, how has the averages been for you Lee?
ctfchallenge19-Jun-2005 11:25
Thanks Paul and MarkJay. Paul, the background is because of the camera settings. No photoshop was used to alter the background. theFly

Cats find themselves the wackiest positions sometimes :-) If the other paw were covering the other eye, would look like playing peek a boo. lol Great shot.
Paul 19-Jun-2005 10:51
I love this shot Lee and it's a classic Fly shot. The detail in the cats colours, the reflection and the dark background are superb never mind the capture of the cat in such a great pose. Is the background dark because of your choice of camera settings or post processing?

Thanks Rod, RK and Mary Ann. The floor is wooden and finished. It is reflective if you find the right angle. The camera was on the floor with only an attached quick tripod release.

He just loves laying in the sun in the morning that comes thru a large window over our door. My wife pointed out he was and had his legs in the air. He changed positions by the time I got the camera.

Great shot, Lee, and the exposure is perfect, especially in such a high-contrast lighting situation.

Lee, this is fantastic. To me, the floor looks wooden, don;'t know how you managed a reflection (of glass like). Love the way the reflections stop at the hilites.
Cute cat (I have two of them).

Please... tell us how you composed this.

Thanks
- RK
