Thanks for comment. This is Paris and the river is Seine. Exposure is long, but I closed the aperture quite a bit to allow it. You are right; the night shots can be tricky and usually I take a few frames of the same scene with different exposures/apertures in order to get what I want

Beautiful picture, Alexei, and right on topic. Where is it?
I'm amazed that with such a long exposure time it still looks like night, and the lights on the buildings are not overpowering everything else. (whenever I try long exposures of city scenes they look like some freakish brown day rather than night :-).
Very nice!

Many thanks for commens. Nugar: reflections are overexposed because they are reflections of street lights in agitated water averaged over 30 sec exposure

Beautiful composition, Alex. I might add that somehow, the water reflections seems over exposed to me.

Rod, no, I have not changed the image since I posted it
Rod 31-May-2005 10:57
Did you tone the whites down after posting this yesterday Alexei? I want to know if I'm imagining things:-)
alexeig30-May-2005 15:58
Many thanks for comments. Yes, it is 30 seconds shot made on purpose to achieve this blurry and creamy effect on water. In reality the water was very agitated after passing motorboat and reflections consisted from lots of fast moving bright specks, so that 30 seconds exposure averaged them over. The people were sitting and partying but apparently not THAT wildly

Waw,it's an excellent shot, Alexeig. Very well done. 29 secs?!? I would have expected more blurred subjects... I see some people in the shot, and it still looks great.... wtg, Alexeig...

But I did drink me drink.

You prefer this now as you've just had such a filling meal and you feel better. You left a string bean and a bit of broccoli though. You'll end up a short runt if you don't eat your greens.
Rod 30-May-2005 10:10
Coming back to this picy the whites look better, did you adjust it Alexei? Unless me ole eyes are knackered, It’s looking really good now mate:-)
Paul 30-May-2005 10:09
I can't see blown highlights here Rod unless i'm going blind. I see plenty of very bright lights but nothing unnatural. I think this is the first shot entered so far where the reflection is such a major part and attraction of the image rather than a sort of aside.
Rod 30-May-2005 08:46
The buildings look really good but from the wall down it looks over saturated. Very nice shot though. I've been caught out with BHs in this challenge, so I won't mention yours:-)

Very striking Alex, the thumbnail alone stood out amongst the rest. Beautiful shot.
