Quite surrealistic. I love the contrast between this huge thing and the tree to the right

Decreased saturation a little bit. -Abstract

Even though I love saturation, I was overwhelmed by the colors too. The reason is that the red channel is blown. Upon reading your explaination, I can accept the saturation. One way to reduce the blonw impact is to sharpen the image, at least the stump portion. It brings out the texture nicely.

My 1st impression was the same as Uncle Rod, then I read your explanation. Very beautiful photo.

Thank you Photonut, Jose, Lonnit and Rod.
Jose, I rotated the shot intentionally to get my main subjects (wood and tree) vertically straight.
Rod, i noticed the saturated colors too but its all natural...so decided to represent the beauty as it is. only postprocessing done is a little crop from right, resizing and sharpening (GIMP: mask size-5 and opacity 50). btw, i exposed the shot for the deck (darker part) to get the "bright-golden" instead of "yellow-bronze" look in the shot.

Really good shot Abs but I was a bit overwhelmed with the colour saturation in the wood & ground it's obliterating the detail. Have you had a look at this with less saturated colours? These colours will get you votes but not further into quality photograpy.....I think:-)
