Ibis *

Wello Point Brisbane

I got up at 4-30 this morning to get down to Wello Point for the bleeding sunrise. Got some good sunrise shots that are off topic for this challenge:-)This is the revised version as per Humberto's suggestions, & I gave it a tighter crop as per me missus suggestion:-)

Canon PowerShot G2
1/160s f/4.0 at 21.0mm full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Nice capture, Rod. I know it's not easy to get close enough for a good shot of these birds. I was photographing a couple of them on someone's front lawn in Florida earlier this week, when a man came out and asked (not in a very friendly way, I might add), "Could I ask why you're taking pictures of my house?" Geez, and the shots didn't even turn out well.

I'm glad it worked for you :)

Yes Abs, tighter crop & Humberto's PS tweaks:-)

Rod, did you crop this image?
i feel i am closer to the bird and the view point is at much lower elevation now than it was before, which works better for me. -Abstract

That looks a lot better Nugar, I have CS but layers are like rocket science to me. I normally just pull the curves down a bit & usm. I really have to make time & do your tutorial. Thanks Nugar:-) Abs I think I was kneeling down to get this shot, at my age if I try to go any lower people start calling the ambulance:-)

Rod, i like this shot but i would have taken it from lower elevation...may be just about a couple of inches above from the ground. -Abstract

I think I got it. There seems to be a color cast, what PS do you have? Interestingly, I notice that the red channel is blown, but the cast seems to be green or yellow. To easily correct it, I opened the image, duplicated the layer and did an autolevels. Then adjust opacity of that layer to taste. I uploaded the result here:http://nugar.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=16&pos=1

Hi Rod, I like this image, but I think it needs a tiny bit of post-processing. It seems a bit on the flat side, but I can't pinpoint how to correct it.

Looks like the bird is moving fast and you caught it just right, posts stand out nicely. rich
