Disney Concert Hall Detail #2

Another detail from the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. For those of you wondering what the entire structure looks like, I'm working on it! Used PS channel mixer for B&W, and "palladium" curves adjustment for tone.

Hi Ann, I just surfed EMP's website. Didn't know that Frank Gehry had also designed that building but the "family resemblance" is certainly there!

It is beautiful based on your pictures Paul. Sure beats the Experience Music Project in Seattle which to me looks like a dog's breakfast the second time around. ;) Ann C

Steve and Mark, thanks for your comments. You have to see the building in person to appreciate the design. I remember one early comment saying that it looked like a Kleenex box that had been left out in the rain. I still haven't made up my mind, but am leaning towards the positive. Here's a side view of the WDCH:

Because the entire structure is a burnished steel color at different angles, it's tough to photograph in direct light without blowing out the highlights. I'm going to have another go at it next weekend just before dawn.

Another good one. I guess I gotta start planning a trip to see this. Now I'm curious what the overall building looks like.

Great tones and contrasts. Well seen and well processed.
