uh huh, monitors are a bear. For my monitor, your pass with Noise Ninja did the trick and the black background is greatly improved while preserving detail on the subject. -Michael
Thanks Michael, I try to keep noise reduction to a minimum. I did use a bit, but very selectively, and not in the black areas. This is another of those annoying variations between monitors. After reading your comment, I loooked at the image on my iBook, and saw the splotches. I went back to look at it on my iMac, where I processed it, and couldn't see them. I then ran a fairly aggressive Noise Ninja applied only to the black areas (of course, I couldn't see the effect), and reposted it. I checked it on my iBook, and it seems a little improved, but not perfect. Perhaps I should reedit it on my iBook. How does it look on yours?

I should have mentioned that on my monitor the black areas are just a bit splotchy with noise. Congrats for using 3200 iso, but did you try any noise reduction? -Michael

A very effective portrait with a somewhat intense feeling due to harsher light. I saw this shortly after posting and you've done a nice job at balancing the Apple logo. I do like the logo having a strong presence. -Michael
What a lovely portrait from what would normally be very harsh light. The bright highlights in her eyes really give this life. I love your title, too! ~Sharon
