* Gold of Mine

This is some gold I panned myself when
I visited California about 8 years ago.
I'd been wanting to do it since a college
geology class, so it was very exciting to
finally have the opportunity.

Beautiful neon and gold glow! If only the image could be bigger. Roumen

Nice Image Lonnit, (*)little niggles; the background drop-off is a bit fast if you know what I mean. Not sure a central composition works head on like this. The light is very nice, as are the colours,

Wow, Lonnit, that's totally cool! Great lighting. I mean, really great.

From what I've heard, they do something similar on Star Trek when people use the transporter. Supposedly they use glitter stirred in a glass of water. Now that I've done it myself, I see how well the concept can work. Yes, it does look like an enormous source of energy. ~ Lonnit

The lighting and reflection gives wonderful impact. Image has a lot of energy. Nice!

Thanks guys. This was my first time attempting this type of lighting. I had this on a glass table with a camping light below, a piece of black construction paper behind, and a flashlight to the right. I put the flashlight at an angle between the bottle and the background and adjusted the angle until I got the left side of the bottle's edge to light up. It still amazes me how you can shoot an image like this in normal room brightness and have it look like the room is dark. ~ Lonnit

Very nice Lonnit. My kids have a bottle of "real gold" but sadly it says as much on the bottle, which rather spoils the effect... I really like what you have done here, very much indeed.

Thanks Armin. There's also a tiny bit of that reddish picked up in the curve of the glass that just goes under the lid. It might be from the reflection of the flashlight off the black paper background. This image took a lot of fiddling to bring up the colors. Without the red it was duller; the red added something to it all, I felt. ~ Lonnit

Dammit, Lonnit, again such a beautiful graphical post! But I have to beg you, please, do not use the mixture on yourself! :-)

One question, what about the red in the right? ~Armin
