Just Plain Ol' Ice Water *

I desaturated the glass completely because I want it to look cold and clear, without any color interference.

This water really feels cold

"To tint, or not to tint......now, that's the question??" I think not, due to the fact I like it this way -- it's the way I intended it to look.....thanks for your suggestions. (Besides, I have no experience in layers --- dangit! Just a frustrated amateur missing a few important tools.) LOL Shu

....yet, there's something about it I really like! ~ Lonnit

Forgot to mention: adjust the opacity of the blue layer to your liking... --Olaf.dk

How to add blue? Here's how I'd do it: Create a new layer and fill with blue, RGB=94,171,207. Set the blending mode of the new layer to color. Now the whole image is blue, so add a layer mask to the new layer and paint with black on the surrounds of the glass. Voila, cool glass on warm background! --Olaf

(*) Since you asked, my friend: I happen to think this is a great looking iamge, especially the way you've framed it up. Two things could improve or solidify your "cold / coolness". First to see more clealy the formation of the ice cubes that are in the glass. Maybe it's the angle height with which you chose to photograph this from or, maybe the ice has melted after all your hard work / set-up time :-) but, to me the cubes are "lost" in transition. If it were me, once I had my setup as I wanted it, I would have dropped in a few fresh cubes. The other thing: condensation. Markjay

I do like the color and odd, abstracted look of the image but perhaps a hint of blue,as suggested. I don't know how to add blue back into the image. Any ideas???? Shu

I'm thinking maybe a hint of blue colorization instead of total desaturation might promote the idea you were looking for.

It's a good composition but I dunno..... I'd need to see the full colour version to be convinced about your idea.
