Got this far on a redo today. Took all your greatly appreciated advice softening dividing line, enlarging moon, resizing bear and figure a bit, then a bit of darkening in corners etc. Maybe needs more space above figure's head, but I'm cross-eyed from looking at it for too long, so will let it be for now. :-)
