Door Gods

Ping Shan Walled Village, Hong Kong

While I was wandering in a walled village,
I found a pair of Door Gods were beautifully painted on a pair of wooden doors.
Normally, the Door Gods are printed/painted on pieces of paper for placing on doors.

Door Gods are Chinese decorations placed on each side of an entry to a temple and home.
Traditional Chinese believes the door gods keep evil spirits from entering.
This custom can be traced back to 1,500 years ago.
