BN Oregon Trunk in the 90's

A few Oregon trunk photos, the Geology along the Deschutes River is tremendous. The historic fight between the railroads to build along the river is well documented, the abandoned right of way is now a BLM service road allowing access and campgrounds along the river. The BN route continued to Klamath Falls and then interchanging with the WP at Bieber with the train continuing to Keddie and then the Central Valley of California. After UPRR merged with the WP the interchange became less used, however later mergers made the route viable again with the BNSF route presently continuing to Keddie then trackage routes to the ex ATSF interchange at Stockton.

The road trips were often just before News Years day or during an extended 4th of July holiday. Some of the scans show the characteristics of Ektachrome 400. Written permission is required to reproduce any material contained in this website.
