Because of the recent incidence with Don Imus, Al Sharpton and other racists are insisting that the following changes take place in our country:

-Santa Claus will be banned as he utters the clearly racist and misogynistic exclamation, "Ho, ho, ho!
- Pirate movies will be censored if they contain the phrase "Yo, ho, ho."
- John Wayne Movies with the reference "Wagons Ho" will be barred from public viewing.
- All references to the Seven Dwarfs will be punishable due to the song "High-ho!" which is offensive to sex workers of enhanced stature.
- Any mention of farmers will cease due to their use of hoes, a racist, sexist farm implement.
- The Lone Ranger will be eliminated from popular culture because he uses the patently offensive phrase, "Hi Ho Silver"
-All "Ho-downs" will be terminated as a racist affront to non-Southern White Christians.
- All travel to Ho Chi Minh City will be banned.
- The phrases "Heave-Ho," "Gung Ho," and "Tally Ho!" will be expunged from the English language.
- If you are sleepy and say Ho Hum you can sleep in jail.
- Idaho will cease being a state.
Now that Sharpton and the race hustlers have triumphed, what will be banned next.?

THE CLASS REUNION

Every ten years, as summertime nears,

An announcement arrives in the mail,

A reunion is planned; it'll be really grand;

Make plans to attend without fail.

I'll never forget the first time we met;

We tried so hard to impress.

We drove fancy cars, smoked big cigars,

And wore our most elegant dress.

It was quite an affair; the whole class was there.

It was held at a fancy hotel.

We wined, and we dined, and we acted refined,

And everyone thought it was swell.

The men all conversed about who had been first

To achieve great fortune and fame.

Meanwhile, their spouses described their fine houses

And how beautiful their children became.

The homecoming queen, who once had been lean,

Now weighed in at one-ninety-six.

The jocks who were there had all lost their hair,

And the cheerleaders could no longer do kicks.

No one had heard about the class nerd

Who'd guided a spacecraft to the moon;

Or poor little Jan e, who's always been plain;

She married a shipping tycoon.

The boy we'd decreed "most apt to succeed"

Was serving ten years in the pen,

While the one voted "least" now was a priest;

Just shows you can be wrong now and then.

They awarded a prize to one of the guys

Who seemed to have aged the least.

Another was given to the grad who had driven

The farthest to attend the feast.

They took a class picture, a curious mixture

Of beehives, crew cuts and wide ties.

Tall, short, or skinny, the style was the mini;

You never saw so many thighs.

At our next get-together, no one cared whether

They impressed their classmates or not.

The mood was informal, a whole lot more normal;

By this time we'd all gone to pot.

It was held out-of-doors, at the lake shores;

We ate hamburgers, coleslaw, and beans.

Then most of us lay around in the shade,

In our comfortable T-shirts and jeans.

By the fiftieth year, it was abundantly clear,

We were definitely over the hill.

Those who weren't dead had to crawl out of bed,

And be home in time for their pill.

And now I can't wait; they've set the date;

Our sixtieth is coming, I'm told.

It should be a ball, they've rented a hall

At the Shady Rest Home for the old.

Repairs have been made on my hearing aid;

My pacemaker's been turned up on high.

My wheelchair is oiled, and my teeth have been boiled;

And I've bought a new wig and glass eye.

I'm feeling quite hearty, and I'm ready to party

I'm gonna dance 'til dawn's early light.

It'll be lots of fun; but I just hope that there's one

Other person who can make it that night.

April 15, 2007 - Larry Soloman and his brother Garry were often in my homeroom at Snowden and later classmates at Central. I remember them being challenged by our teacher Miss Mc Kee in 6th grade . She would take any child that grew taller than she was by the end of the year to get an ice cream soda. Of course Larry and Garry did pass her. Larry was a wonderful guy who will be missed just as Gary has been. They were so close in life and now only 5 years apart in death. I send my condolences to their families and many friends. April 16, 2007 - The last time I saw Larry was at our graduation. Thanks to our fabulous CHS website, Larry and I reconnected through frequent emails. Not only did we catch up on the gaps in our lives since those carefree days at CHS but we shared all our family news, travel tales and of course jokes. I'm sure you have all heard the saying, "We all have a Birthdate and a Deathdate with a dash in between them. It's what you do with your dash that counts." I think Larry made the most of his "dash." He was foremost a loving family man, caring son, faithful friend and a contributor to his community. Larry was fun! He loved to laugh, travel, cook barbeque and fish. Now there is a large void in our Class of 1963. It is because he shared himself with others and filled everyone he met with the sense that they were special to him - as he was special to us. I will miss my email friend and buddy but I am grateful to have known him. I'm sure he is up there right now grilling some delicious barbeque for Garry and all the others who have gone before us. Perhaps if we are real lucky, he will save some ribs for us!

April 22, 2007 - Mary and I sat across from Larry and Jo Ann at the Supper Club at The Pig and Whistle. What a night of conversation and laughs. I had not seen Larry much except at reunions until we started going to the Supper clubs. Not only did you expect to see Larry, but the smile on his face. I will miss talking to him and laughing with him.

April 18, 2007 - I attended the funeral today of Larry Solomon, one of the true "last Warriors". Larry and Garry, identical twins, were good, long time friends of mine. We had many good times together and I will miss them. While Larry lived, Garry lived.

Ironically, Garry attended Larry's funeral also, really. You had to be there to understand.

JOHN COLEMAN, beloved husband, stepfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, of Germantown, TN, passed away on March 29, 2007, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. He retired from Federal Express. Prior to his seventeen-year career at Federal Express, he was employed at the Memphis Fire Department. He grew up in the Catholic Church and attended Catholic High. He graduated from Central High in 1963. He attended Georgia Tech and the University of Memphis. He received a Master of Science in Telecommunications and an MBA from Christian Brothers University. He was a member of the Berclair Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Mary Hearn Coleman, retired Presbyterian Day School Upper School Principal; his mother, Nan McMullen Coleman of Memphis; his stepson, David Hearn of Winter Park, FL; sisters, Mary Ann Coleman of Cookville, TN and Kay Maceri (Dr. Sam Maceri) of Cordova; nieces, Katie Maceri (Paul Counce) of Memphis, Shelley Wood (Robert) of Eva, TN, and Melanie Paquette of Oak Ridge, TN.


A memorial service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on April 1 at three PM. Visitation will be preceding the service from two to three. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to all the doctors and health care professionals at West Clinic and Baptist Hospital who were involved in John's illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Presbyterian Day School, 4025 Poplar Ave., 38111, or The West Clinic, 100 N. Humphreys Blvd. 38120, in Memphis or a charity of the donor's choice. Memorial Park Funeral Home 901-767-8930
