Usually I head for Australia's finest fish and chips at Port Albert Wharf and often detour en route via bush tracks through the hills. On the outward journey, I typically take the M1 (Prince's Highway) to Traralgon, then the C482 (Hyland Highway) south to Yarram and thence to Port Albert. After lunch I need exercise so I might visit a nearby cemetery (see subgalleries for Alberton and Greenmount Cemetery), go for a short bushwalk or walk along Ninety Mile Beach near Woodside.
Time permitting, I might take alternative routes south, including the C483 from Traralgon via Balook and the Tarra Valley Road to Yarram, or the C469 from Trafalgar via Thorpdale to Mirboo North and thence via the Grand Ridge Road eventually to Port Albert.
Alternatively, I might explore the hills and bush tracks further west, between Yarragon and Morwell on the M1 and Leongatha closer to the South Gippsland Highway.
