7 Fang

On my third day in Chiang Mai I did a sidetrip by bus to Fang, about 3.25 hours north by bus. Taking photos along the way is impossible unless you take a chance on snapping out of a moving bus, as I did. Sitting up front, just behind the driver, gave me the best view I could have had.
The idea of a place called Fang seems odd because of the English meaning of the word "fang", and signs can seem unwittingly hilarious.
On arrival in Fang, the bus drives into a bus station combined with a market - between the stalls. Almost the first thing I saw was plastic bags full of large, creepy crawly insects for sale and very much alive. Then I had lunch and explored the streets partly by pedicab, partly on foot.
