A powerful winter storm is sweeping through the Kansas City metro area, bringing heavy snowfall, strong winds, and blizzard conditions.
First Alert Live Doppler Radar shows a darker band of heavy snow moving southeast.
Winds gusting up to 41 mph reducing visibility to below a quarter-mile, creating dangerous travel conditions.
Temperatures have dropped to 14 degrees, with relative humidity at 87%, as the snow continues to fall at a steady pace.
Blizzard warnings remain in effect, with snowfall totals expected to reach 12 inches. Ice accumulation compounding the hazards in some locations.
The storm has caused power outages and further outages are expected as the system persists.
