Stockerau ist eine Stadt im Bezirk Korneuburg in Niederösterreich. Mit 17.210 Einwohnern (Stand 1. Jänner 2025) ist sie die größte Stadt des Weinviertels. Der Name Stockerau leitet sich angeblich aus der Zusammensetzung Stocker-Au ab: die Au der Holzfäller. Die Stockerauer Au – der Flusswald zwischen der Stadt und der Donau – ist heute noch ein wichtiges Erholungsgebiet für die Stockerauer. Stockerau wird auch „Lenaustadt“ genannt, da der Dichter Nikolaus Lenau in seiner Jugend hier oft Zeit bei seinen Großeltern verbracht hat.

Stockerau is a town in the Korneuburg district of Lower Austria. With 17,210 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2025), it is the largest town in the Weinviertel region. The name Stockerau is said to derive from the compound "Stocker-Au," meaning "the woodcutters' meadow." The Stockerau floodplain—the riparian forest between the town and the Danube—remains an important recreational area for the residents of Stockerau. Stockerau is also known as "Lenaustadt" (Lenau Town), as the poet Nikolaus Lenau often spent time there with his grandparents during his youth.
