Hadersdorf-Weidlingau Cemetery is located in the southwest of the Penzing district, in the Hadersdorf-Weidlingau neighborhood. It covers an area of 12,868 m² and contains 1,884 burial plots.
The remains transferred from the closed old Mariabrunn Cemetery were interred on October 7, 1921, beneath a wrought-iron Baroque cross in the western part of the new cemetery. The old cemetery was subsequently converted into a garden.
The cemetery chapel was built between 1908 and 1909 according to plans by Max Hegele for his nephews Johann and Eduard Herzmansky (owners of a textile store) and was consecrated on October 31, 1909. Max Hegele's grave is located near the chapel. (Personal note: For his impressive achievements as an architect, the tomb is unobtrusively simple.)
