Yes, it is unusual. It could be a hybrid, or it could be a variant of Viola sororia. Common blue violet. V. sororia, has two common sports: var. priceana, which is mostly blue, and var. soroia, which is mostly white. Unfortunately I had a light failure just prior to taking this shot and wouldn't have posted the image had the flower not been so unusual. It isn't a great shot.
