Common names: New York Ironweeed
Height: 1-1.8 metres; 30-50 flowers 5-7mm, in heads 12-18mm of 8-10cm
Alternate leaves 8-25mm, finely toothed, lance-shaped.
Long, slender, bract tips covering base of flower heads and greater flower density per head
distingish this species from similar tall ironweed (Vernonia angustifolia).
This particular specimen was found in an upland bog (wet meadow)
