They took us on trips to places outside Bangkok - Chachoengsao, to see Irrawaddy River dolphins and Amphawa to the Floating Market. The dolphins at Chachoengsao remained illusive and were not to be seen but the outing was enjoyable nonetheless, especially the lovely cream and silver Wat Sothon and its remarkable marble floor with inlaid pictures of sea creatures.
The Floating Market at Amphawa is a marvellous experience, very popular with local Thai and, as yet, undiscovered by many foreign tourists. We finished our day there with a river cruise, an expansive waterway and a great way to view the whole area.
