Looking at the pattern of my photographs I can see that we would have arrived on the eastern side of the Adige River, somewhere near the Roman theatre. (Which I remember having been pointed out to us, though we couldn't really see a lot from where we were.) We started just south of the Ponte Pietra, with the previous shot having been taken looking roughly north north-west.

We continued walking south down the Lungadige Re Teodorico, the roadway that was named after Theoderic the Great. Eventually we crossed the Ponte Nuovo into the western side of the city.

However that was for later. This is the Church of San Pietro da Verona in Santa Anastasia, which was due west of us on the other side of the river. The church was built between 1280 and 1400. The belltower is 72 m tall and originally had four bells. In 1839, nine bells were installed and are run by a Veronese bell ringing team which was formed in 1776.
