As we were pulling into Tirano Station, we got our first glimpse of the Swiss railway carriages that operate on the line up into Switzerland. These were not in fact our carriages; I'm not even sure if these specific ones were used on the Bernina Express that day. However in any case, they are second-class carriages, whereas we had first-class carriages. Aside from the number of seats per row (and, if I recall correctly, leather seating), the windows in the first-class carriages had fewer pillars, providing a more panoramic view.
Still bloody awful to shoot through though; reflections here, there and everywhere.
