090411_1012_3500 - 10:12 Walking Away From The Conservatory

Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne, Victoria

The plant conservatory is opened in March 1930. It's in the Spanish mission architectural style (did I mention that to New South Welshpeople, Victoria is also known as "Mexico"? I'm just saying, is all...), measures 30 x 15 metres and originally cost 4,000 pounds back in the days before we mercifully converted to decimal currency.

This is actually the rear of the building.

The conservatory is a popular spot for photographing wedding parties, but be warned that a sign on the door warns that the contractors who run the place have the right to refuse entry. Since I don't want to be blamed in the unlikely event that someone decides to do that based on this photo, so I caution you to make arrangements first.

The statue outside the building can also be seen in image 3495.

Michelangelo's Pieta parked in front of gymnasium in San Diego? Odd mix of Italian and Spanish no doubt due to the reverse corriolis effect south of the equator.
