Traditionally, the time to fish for smelt and tomcod is Thanksgiving Day. That's when the run peaks. These two Kotzebue men took advantage of the Sunday after Thanksgiving to catch both varieties of fish in a fierce storm. Temperature was a balmy 20 degrees F but the wind was blowing.
