20050420 / The World In My Hands

Alright, the original idea was to copy yesterday's PAD which honored Chinese food
and films by featuring the cinema and cuisine of France. Two things stopped me. First,
I thought just redoing yesterday's PAD was a little lazy. Most importantly, however,
as I was setting up the shot, my fries were getting cold.

Instead, I offer 6 fine films from all over the globe.

From France; 'Amelie', starring Audrey Tautou and 'Le Pact Des Loups' which, as a bonus, features
screen siren Monica Bellucci.
From England: 'Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels'.
From India: 'Lagaan', which competed with 'Amelie' a few years ago for Best Foreign Film at the
Academy Awards.
From Japan: The excellent anime 'Blood: The Last Vampire'
And finally, from Julie Taymor, the Academy Award winning film about Mexican born Frida Kahlo
which, in my opinion, benefits from great performances by both Salma Hayek and Alfred Molina.

So, for Jeremy's preference for French films, jude's ambivalence to the food of a billion people
& Spydahman's lukewarm response to 'House of Flying Daggers', I offer several alternatives.
:)

'House of Flying Daggers' == in all due respect, who could be lukewarm to the "echo" scene??? Wonderful sense of humor - this image is great fun!

I am a big fan of LSandSB. However, how do you have so much time to watch movies when great shows like "Surreal life" and "Joey" are on?LOL

I love Amerlie. I've watched Lagaan and it wasn't too bad. Try Korean movies, Chris. You want any recommendation, pm me :)

I really love the tones you choose in this image. Very nice and I think they compliment your display. You think movies, often you think about older movies.

You are an eclectic surfer Chris.
Amelie is the only one I've seen, but it was great.

The look on your face says which movie to watch first?
Definitely "Amelie.!" Audrey Tautou is amazing in it!
