Just goes to show how inferior modern buildings are by comparison to what the Victorian ones were. They dont seem to last five minutes do they? A few decades and they are ready for that big ball of Jenny's.
I wonder, had the previous academy not burned down, would it still have been in use today? Going by the old photo's, it was a classic building. Only time I saw it was when my mother took me up to see a smouldering ruin the day after the fire where it once stood in all its glory.

Is it true the Academy is a listed building and therefore can't just be demolished? Seems like a 1960s monstrosity to me and it would be improved no end by a wrecking ball.
