"Sleepy"
A young koala up a tree, one of two we had in our trees yesterday. This was
the only one I could reach with my long lens, but I couldn't wake him no
matter how hard I tried! The other koala was too far up and too much
foliage between us. This photo taken on the last day of September. We
are now in October down under. Thanks for all the support everyone, and
I have enjoyed finding photos that "could" fit with the theme - it was a challenge!

"Shed"
My little garden shed that started out as a hot house, but got too shady,
so now it is somewhere to store garden things like pots and stakes.
Here you can see plenty of spring flowering ipheions (bulbs) in bloom

"Sunbathers"
We spent a few hours in Cairns and the men were keen to see the newly
updated swimming pool... but then we came across a greened area alongside
the pool with many stretched out in the sunshine getting themselves a
tan. We had trouble getting Dick & John away.. and sorry boys, I've
had a play with Photoshop so you can't quite see the lady with only
a G-string!

"Swimming Pool"
We're still here in the resort, a view of part of the swimming pool
especially for guests - others can swim in the sea or the river, both
are close by, though one needs to look for crocodiles & stingers. I
think the pool would be safer!

"Scone"
A favourite of Dick is afternoon tea with scones... in this case a scone.
Here he is pouring himself a pot of tea...

"Smoker's campsite"
A law passed several years ago bans smokers from public areas, in particular
where food is served, hence inns, hotels, cafes find ways to cater for
clients who wish to smoke, and this is how the resort coped, building an
area away from the eating areas, & making it as comfortable as possible.

"Spring"
Although the violas have been flowering for months, right through autumn and winter
the new spring climbing rose leaves can be seen hovering above and behind
the basket of flowers. Photo taken today.. along with nearly 50 others.

"Smile"
Enjoying our time together in the warmth of the tropics.
10-AUG-2017
"Seating"
The open air restaurant where we called in twice firstly for
afternoon tea and the 2nd time for lunch. No windows, and surrounded
by rainforest palms and trees, a delight!
12-AUG-2017
"Silhouette"
Looking skyward through the palm fronds, something I enjoy doing...
12-AUG-2017
"Sea and Sand"
Photo taken on one of my walks along the shoreline across the road from
where we were staying.
11-AUG-2017
"Stairs"
This is stairs to an outback style relief station that we were glad
to find with tables & seating for Dick and I to have a rest while the
young ones ventured the walk to the lookout and falls.
11-AUG-2017
"Statuette"
On the rails of the boardwalk were several little statues at eye level,
including this one.
11-AUG-2017
"Serpentine"
The twisting roots hung overhead as we walked on the boardwalk in the
Barron Gorge National Park. This area extends from the coastal lowlands
to the elevated regions of the Atherton Tableland
and features rugged mountain scenery, tropical rainforests, diverse wildlife and a fascinating history.
The park lies within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.
The park is part of the traditional lands of the Djabugandji Bama
(local Aboriginal people)
who maintain a close spiritual connection with this country.
Before Europeans arrived, Bama traversed this country, developing trails
linking the coast to the uplands. These historic trails now form sections
of a walking track network. The last time we visited this area we met up
with one of the Aboriginal keepers of the area and he talked about the history.

"Sepia"
Photo taken in the club rooms of the "Paradise Palms Golf Club" not that
far from the resort where we had lunch. The golf club had magnificent
gardens, but I'm saving those photos for the other gallery because none
fit with the letter "S". We called into these rooms twice, the first
time to see what they were like and have a nice cooling drink; the
second time bringing two cams so I could photograph the gardens, this time
we had a delightful afternoon tea.

"Standing Tall"
Giving an idea of how tall the canopy of trees/palms were as we walked around
the various paths of the garden surrounding the resort.
15-AUG-2017
"Salad"
A lovely light lunch - my serve.
15-AUG-2017
"Shelter"
This was between the resort and beach and I think used for outdoor activity on
moonlit nights and/or days of celebration or just a humble picnic if the heavens open.
15-AUG-2017
"Silhouette"
Standing on the beach enjoying the views, photo taken from the Resort as
we all went to see what the beach was like.
15-AUG-2017
"Stepping Down"
Another photo taken in the Kewarra Resort, so many photo opportunities here
and more to follow using the letter "S" for the month of September.
15-AUG-2017
"Splash"
Another section of the swimming pool, a sort of mini grotto that caught my eye.
15-AUG-2017
"Sequence"
Photo taken at the resort, the swimming pool was constantly refreshed by this
series of waterfalls.
13-AUG-2017
"Steps"
Occasionally along the pathway one came across a few steps as seen here.
13-AUG-2017
"Sign"
One of many on the various boardwalks we did on our recent holiday in
the tropics of Australia.
13-AUG-2017
"Shadows"
A Farmers Market occurred while we were in FNQ, this one was held on the foreshore and
was quite large. I bought myself a hat which was needed the day we were there and I
found a proper coffee Barista outlet which pleased me no end as I was really hanging out
for a caffeine boost.
13-AUG-2017
"Swinging Bridge"
I wasn't the most brave soul to cross this bridge, it rocked to and fro when others
were also on the bridge, as a little boy discovered and took the opportunity
to jump-jump-jump. You can just see our son-in-law standing there waiting for
me to get a reasonable photo of the bridge.
13-AUG-2017
"Sliding Rocks"
A different angle to create the feeling of sliding downhill.
13-AUG-2017
"Sun on the water"
We spent a few hours here, was quite entertaining watching people swimming, diving
and enjoying this very pretty spot.
13-AUG-2017
"Sunlight thru the trees"
From the walkway through the tropical rain forest trees and undergrowth,
something to see every few metres, and interesting shadows cast.

"Stones"
Photographed in the Mossman Gorge, Far North Queensland when we drove up the coast
to Port Douglas and on to the Mossman Gorge. Although it has been winter where I
live, the far north area of Queensland doesn't really have a winter... the days
staying around 28 degrees Celsius daily, and warm enough for swimming.
