Palmers (BBT Typhoon and Stroker, Superstocker)

Glenn Palmer is regarded by many as the father of the autococking mechanism, and with bringing one of the first semis to the game. Although Glenn freely admits he was not the only person working on it at the time, he is arguably the first to put theory into practice (some claim Bud (especially Bud himself) developed his autococker first or at the same time, but I find it extremely difficult to credit this considering the evidence and accounts. Glenn gives a very good accounting of the matter on a few public forums like the Palmers forum of PBN, and has publicly refuted WGP/K2's claims and legel threats. Glenn for whatever reason has never chosen to pursue legal course in these matters or patent any of his early products.

What no one can deny is that Palmers has used a pivot trigger of advanced design since his third autococking conversion (the second was a slider which was shown to Bud Orr before the release of the cocker and the first was rebuilt from its original incarnation.) that has proven nearly identical in function as the cocker hinges that appeared a decade later (with the exception of the location of the 3-way). Unfortunately, this is part of why I have trouble using a Palmers is due to my ability to constantly and severely short stroke a hinge. Many people consider the Palmers to be the logical evolution of the cocker, I am not totaly in agreement with that especialy considering a later creation Palmers had a hand in, the Sovereign. I really won't get into the nitty gritty of all that Palmers offers, except to say his stuff is of the finest quality and has one of the nicest and loyalist of followings. His creations range from wood stocked hurricanes to PGP strokers to the new electro blazers to some of the finest stock class guns ever produced and a mind boggling array of customs in between including the Double barreled Nasty's and even single shot dueling pistols. Palmer was the first to offer a reliable externally adjustable LPR for the cocker, and since then his is the standard by which all others are measured.

Since I sold my typhoon, I have in many ways regretted it, and since starting this little collection, I have felt that Palmer's deserved a spot in here. I finally found a reason to add them. I have also added a Palmer cocker built by son Craig to my colelction. This is absolutly one of the finest cockers I have ever had the pleasure to shoot.
