We left the deck and got back out to where the Dismal Trail splits off. Coincidentally, this is where the old trail splits off. I hadn't suggested going down there today, but Cindy asked if we were - and off we went. There's a map at this point also and if you are facing towards the red blazes and the new trail, the old trail is to the right and heads down. It has some small logs across it, but no sign saying you can't go down there. This old trail isn't maintained any longer, but is still easy to follow. It picks up a creek on the right side and eventually begins swinging to the right. With leaves off, you can see the Raven Cliff Falls to the left and it's fairly obvious where the trail down to where the old deck was splits off to the left and continues down. Remnants of the deck are still there and it's fairly obvious where the deck once stood. We continued down a bit farther for this open view of the waterfall. This was shot with the same lens and the last, but this time at 40mm showing how much closer this view is to the waterfall. It's a shame they just didn't rebuild the deck here.
