The historic Vouleftiko building, which housed the very first Parliament of revolutionary Greece, stands prominently in a cobblestone square in Nafplio's Old Town. Originally constructed in 1730 as an Ottoman mosque during the city's second Turkish occupation, this stone structure with its distinctive shallow dome was converted in 1825 to host the Hellenic Republic's fledgling parliament sessions. In the background, the ancient fortification walls and iconic clock tower of the Acronafplia fortress rise along the rocky ridge above, capturing Nafplio's layered layers of Venetian, Ottoman, and modern Greek history.
