Rebuilt between 1541 and 5144, the ornate interior of the Monastery of Varlaam showcases master post-Byzantine craftsmanship, featuring polished marble flooring, an intricate geometric marble mosaic centerpiece, and elaborately carved wooden iconostases beneath a timber-paneled ceiling. Every architectural element carries profound Orthodox symbolism, from the expansive marble floor representing the earthly realm to the soaring timber ceilings symbolizing heaven.
