The original Danish Resistance Museum was established in 1957. It was created to document and commemorate Danish resistance efforts against the German occupation during World War II (1940–1945). The building featured brickwork inscribed with the names of various resistance groups and cover names. It was destroyed on April 28, 2013 by an arson.
