Built between 1601 and 1607 under Elector Palatine Friedrich IV, the Friedrichsbau (Friedrich's Wing) served as the main residential palace for the Wittelsbach rulers. The exterior features a prominent gallery of stone statues representing the ancestors of the House of Wittelsbach, extending back to Charlemagne.
