Built in the 12th century, Palazzo della Ragione (Palace of Reasons) is one of oldest municipal buildings in Italy. It is originally served as the city council and administrative center. During the period of Venetian rule, it became a courthouse, which earned it the name. The Lion of St. Mark on the façade is a testament to Bergamo’s long history under the Republic of Venice.
