Photos taken during a camping trip on July 30 - Aug 1, 2004. Foggy mornings, about three hours of sun, then foggy again - makes photography challenging. Most of the Roosevelt Elk photos here were taken along the dirt access road (Davison Road) that runs from US 101 to Gold Bluffs Beach. At the end of the road it's a short walk to Fern Canyon, where the "green" photos were shot. The photos taken high up above the coast line were shot from a dirt road that I couldn't find again if I were paid to! It ran from just north of Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park up to the Klamath River. Nice drive, and great misty coastal views.
The last three elk photos were taken from my car window, parked on the shoulder of southbound US 101, just north of Orick, CA.
Oh yeah - the rabbit was caught relaxing on the warm asphalt parking lot in the camp ground. Tough life...
