Andrew has been in the mountains before, but never got to experience a REAL hike into the back country.
So, here he is, at age 8, doing a six mile round trip trek into the Mokelumne Wilderness with dad and our buddy Dick Evans. The trailhead is at the top of Carson Pass on CA-88.
Starting elevation is about 8,200 feet, and we reached a max altitude of 9,350 feet. Nice weather, about 75 degrees and only a slight breeze - perfect hiking weather!

We reached two Alpine lakes: Frog Lake and Lake Winnemucca. Andrew enjoyed the hike and is ready for the next one...
