I had a crush on his best friend, ( I was only 14 ) they would ride every where on there unicycles and some times I would follow, I have some good memories from back then.

I went to Mark Twain Jr. High with Sam, he was my friend. We were both skinny guys. We were also friends with Jay Adam's "Lord's Of Dogtown". You can see us pictured together in the Panoramic Picture. I moved to the San Fernando Valley in 1975 so we lost touch. I enjoyed watching him on T.V. "Bahgdad Cafe" and in movie's. I miss him, but know he knew that I was a "True Friend".

Sam was probably the most entertaining performer we saw over the years up at the Venice High plays and musicals, though Allen Dennis gave him a run for the money (with an honorable mention to Danny Sadler who we saw in the chorus at a Spring concert singing "The hills are alive, with the sound of muuuuuusic..." ) Sam stole the show as Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream....that would be the 'disco version' of a Midsummer Night's Dream....
Although his brother Kelly was a classic blond surfer boy type, Sam carved out a decent carreer by usually playing nerds and goofs . This is his Internet Movie Database page:http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0924196/ where, by the way, it says his full name was Sampson E. Whipple...can that be for real?
