I had the honor of witnessing and experiencing the wonder and innocence of Damon. His zest for life and natural abilities. I watched him paddle out alone once in front of my house in giant 10 ft. surf basically in a boating channel and drop in and shred full speed down the face of the wave laughing at its power. I worried about his safety, but I don't know why, he was so confident and powerful in his love for the rawness of life. My life was enriched from knowing and loving him. If anyone is dominating the cosmos waves , it is our righteous Do-man. Everyday is a day without you little buddy.

I just heard the news. I am a family friend from Damons childhood. He was a magical child. I am truely saddened to hear that he has left us so young. My warmest regards to all the family. donna kassel- gourol

Hi Everyone, We had a beautiful service today at St. Mark's. I mistakenly put that the paddle out will be at the breakwater, it will actually be at the Venice Pier, sorry for the confusion... See you at 8:00 am tomorrow.

I am re-posting here a comment from Damon's sister, Denise Freed which she posted on the "Mystery Logal #9" gallery which is linked at the top of this page: ********************************************************************************************************* Damon was my little brother, he did pass away last week on Kauai. The memorial service here will be held at St. Marks on Coeur D' Alene on Saturday 9/18/10 at 2:30 and there will be a paddleout at the breakwater on Sunday 9/19/10 at 8:00. May he rest in peace... *********************************************************************************************************

Damon was a special one for me. I don't think I could ever forget him, even if I try. I loved seeing his young good looks in these pics. But I'll always remember him as a big, strong, handsome, funny, artistic man with lots of love to give and a big soft spot. Aloha oe............I miss you kuuipo

He died September 2 While living on the beautiful westside of Kauai. There is sacredness in tears. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief and of unspeakable love.
