The Hawthorn (whitethorn) tree in the foreground is considered a sacred tree.
It's considered unlucky to cut down a mature one so when you see
a lone tree in a field, it's one of these. The Glendalough tower
is in the background, and the plant with yellow flowers is gorse, which
is abundant in Ireland.
