Eceabat, a port town on the Gallipoli Peninsula

Eceabat is a sleepy, friendly fishing port on the Gallipoli Peninsula and a base for Australians and New Zealanders making the pilgrimage to the battlefields of the First World War. A fine Ottoman castle, defending the Dardanelles against invaders, dominates the nearby village of Kilitbahir.
