Impressions from a two-week break at Caloundra, a seaside holiday town an hour's drive north of Brisbane. Caloundra marks the southernmost extremity of Queensland's Sunshine Coast. This conurbation stretches north through Mooloolaba and Maroochydore as far as Noosa. At Caloundra, the narrow Pumicestone Passage separates Bribie Island, a bush-covered strip of sand, from the mainland. From our 4th floor apartment on Golden Beach we watch jetskis, kayaks, launches and yachts shuttle back and forth from the island's northern tip.
